Our Divine Destiny

In 1995 the first presidency released The Family: A Proclamation to the World. In many ways, this document shows the unique and important values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I believe it was released at an important time and became a respected proclamation before many of the standards we know to be true, have become questioned. We believe that each person is created in God's image and that our gender is an essential part of our identity and purpose here on earth. The family is ordained of God and marriage is an important part of our creators plan. If we live within the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, then we can gain a happiness in our home and can work together on our goal to return home. The world's view is skewed and supports whatever is the popular trend at the moment. We, as Latter-Day Saints, do all we can to hold true to our standards. We are children of our Heavenly Father and he has carefully outlined his plan in order for us to reach our goal of eternal life. If we follow in his footsteps, keep the commandments, and cultivate our relationship with our Savior, then we won't go astray.

..and he has sent me here

In Elder Eyring's talk A Child of God, he depicts what he believes a child of God should be. We are all children of our Heavenly Father who have roles that we should be active in as we are here on earth. It is our duty to pursue our "educational excellence." I believe that part of our purpose is to learn all we can while while we are being tested and tried so that we can be that much better when we return to our Heavenly Father. In the midst of it all, we must go about our work humbly and avoid the pride that could cause our destruction. There are parts of becoming humble that are in and out of our control. Losses of all sorts break us down and teach us what should be our main focus. They send us back to the basics of what is really important. As children of God we can become "great learners" and welcome the correction that helps us become better and to appreciate our imperfections. We must walk by faith and keep our commitments. We must work hard in all that we do and help others along their way. I think that while we assist our fellow men, they in return teach us with their different perspectives and views of life. This life is a  test. It is for our own good that we get knocked down and with our Heavenly Father's help we get picked back up again. We become that much stronger as we learn from our trials. We can never stop learning. So, as God's children we must take advantage of the precious moments we have been given and grow.
